Waiting on Easter
I recently had a conversation with my adult son Zec about music. When asked why he likes Pink Floyd so much, he replied, “They make you wait on it but when it comes it is always worth it.” I was thinking about that quote today in reference to Easter. Surely the realization of the resurrection did not come quickly. Unlike Palm Sunday when the masses cried “hosanna,” the news of Easter sort of trickled out by comparison. Jesus of Nazareth became Jesus Christ one individual at a time but when the realization did come, it changed everything. We often want to jump right to Easter and somehow ignore Good Friday. We want forgiveness without confronting the depravity of our sin. We want hope without ever experiencing despair. Glory without ashes. This week, don’t jump to Easter too quickly. Wait on it. Easter will arrive and when it does, nothing will ever be the same!
